Get Healthy by Owning a Cat

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Having a pet or pets can be beneficial to your health. The following will outline the different ways pets can make you feel and look healthier.

Evidence has been established that blood pressure levels can be lowered through observing the movements of fish in an aquarium. An analysis was conducted on 92 subjects in a coronary care unit. If you have a pet and are sick, you’ll be more likely to be alive next year than those without pets. Twenty eight percent of the non-pet owners died during the following year, while only 6 percent of the patients with pets passed away.

You’ll often find that pets are given to people wth terminal illnesses, as well as the mentally handicapped and the old. Human interaction can be quite complex and scripted, but when we’re interacting with an animal we become ourselves and don’t have to pretend. Our capacity to love and care for something smaller than us takes over.

An experiment done on patients who were about to have oral surgery proved interesting. They watched an aquarium filled with tropical fish for a short time, and their behavior, blood pressure, and muscle tension were noted afterward. The relaxation effect that was produced by watching the tropical fish was very similar to the one felt by people that were hypnotized prior to surgery.

Were you aware of that?

Studies show you can reduce your blood pressure by merely petting a dog. Nursing homes often have pets to inspire the elderly to be more active. Pets are a fantastic anti stressor for people with a lot of tension. According to a study, people who own dogs don’t need nearly as much medical care for stress than dogless people with stress.

Of course, proper care is necessary to ensure the pet has a healthy life, and products like Frontline flea and tick medication make certain the pet and owner have a happy relationship, go to aquachef feeder to find out more

Hence, what sort of pet should one attain?

The best pet can vary from person to person; it depends on what kind relaxes you the most. It can be a gold fish a dog or a cat. Just choose an animal that appeals to you and fits into your lifestyle, so that you will not turn a positive idea into an even more stressful event.

People still don’t know exactly why pet ownership can have all these positive health benefits. One theory is that touching, especially as in petting a cat or dog, has a very calming effect on humans. You’ll feel very good about caring for and nurturing this pet that loves you back.

Midwest Microcurrent Helps Pet Lovers Deal with Animal Depression

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

No matter how patient you are with your pet animals, there are times when the things they do can really make you cry and feel helpless as they display symptoms of animal depression or anxiety. I was overcome with depression last year when my beautiful Chihuahua died. What my friends did to alleviate the sadness that I was feeling was buy me a new Chihuahua. When I saw my new Chihuahua I really did feel a little better from losing Fritzy. At least I had a new friend to care for and love. I had Fritzy for so long that I didn’t really know how to deal with this new pet. I tried as hard as I could to make Dolly feel like my new buddy but she was not adapting very well. Soon after trying so hard with Dolly my relief turned into anxiety. Regardless of what I tried to do for her she kept showing aggression and had very skittish behavior. Even after I potty trained her she still kept going in her kennel and in my house.Animal Chiropractic

Luckily I found out about Midwest Microcurrent in a animal depression forum. I found out Dolly was experiencing animal depression and anxiety according to Dr. Ava Frick. I know that not being active can cause depression because I saw it in the end of Fritzy’s life, but I did not know that other signs consisted of things Dolly was showing, like aggression, fear and going in the house. Who would have thought that animals, no matter how much you try to care for them, can also feel alone and depressed?

One of the things I like most about Dr. Ava Frick is that she has natural and holistic alternatives to the regular methods. I was afraid that she would recommend drugs or other medications to calm down the nerves of my beloved new pet. Dr. Ava Frick suggested using her Alpha-Stim Stress Control System instead of medication for Dolly. In just an hour after the Alpha-Stim SCS treatment, my Dolly was already displaying less aggression. Dolly was finally happy and calm.

I found out that animal depression is not curable in just one treatment. Work got in the way of Dolly’s needed treatments but I was relieved to find out I could bring Midwest Microcurrent’s Alpha-Stim SCS treatment home. It is so easy to use and it felt great to be able to treat my Dolly for her depression. Dolly’s depression and misbehavior seemed to clear up in just a few weeks of treatment. Her skin has cleared up and she love attention from anyone and other animals.Animal Pain Relief

How To Avoid Gum Disease

dental care

Brushing and flossing are not always enough to stop gum disease, you often need much more than that. Your personal dental care is very important. But you still need to make sure that you brush and floss everyday too. In order to avoid the problems that are presented by this disease, here are some tips to follow.

First off do you know what gum disease is? It’s when your gums and bones are attacked by the bacteria that live in your mouth. Did you know that at one time more than one hundred different kinds of bacteria can be in your mouth, millions of them? Yes it’s a lot, and no wonder we have to do so much to kill them.

Brushing each day twice a day is something you need to consider as part of your basic dental care. But you also need to make sure that you brush for at least three minutes. Don’t use those hard bristle tooth brushes either. They could actually harm gum tissue and cause more harm than good.

Flossing should also be done each day of the week. After a snack or drink that is full of sugar you need to brush your teeth. So really the twice a day rule is the minimum amount of times you will be running that toothbrush across those teeth.

Don’t smoke, or use chewing tobacco. They will add stains to your teeth, and give that bacteria an even better chance to harm your gums. As the bacteria continue to feast on your gums and mouth, you will notice things that point to gum disease.

Most definitely if you notice your gums are bleeding almost all the time after brushing or flossing, you should consider going to a periodontist. This special kind of dentist is the top line of def when it comes to combatting .

Next, discover the low cost things you can do at home to help stop gum disease and prevent it from coming back again by following the links below.

Warmed Orthopedic Dog Beds for Joint Relief

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Arthritis is a harmful affliction that doesn't just affect humans. Dogs, cats, and many types of animals can suffer from this debilitating disease, which causes joints to wear down and movement to become painful. Even the most normally mundane tasks, like walking or even rolling over while sleeping, can cause sufferers to stiffen up and feel extremely sore. A dog that suffers from arthritis won't move around as much, nor will he be nearly as playful. However, there are steps you can do as his owner to ensure that he can enjoy life as painlessly as possible. A heated orthopedic dog bed can greatly help towards relieving the pain of arthritis in your dog.

Reduce Swelling

Heated orthopedic dog beds combine two great practices into one package. The heat helps to relieve swelling, improve blood flow, and generally counteract the harsh effects of arthritis. While it won’t be able to provide full relief, it will greatly reduce the discomfort that your dog feels. Another great technology is orthopedics, which have been developed for many years now. You might be familiar with orthopedic pillows and the like for humans, helping to increase comfort while sleeping as the materials work to support human bone structure. Orthopedic beds for dogs help to conform to the dog’s body so that every point of the body is supported, and there are less aches as a result.

Another great piece of furniture that you might want to consider purchasing for your dog is a heated outdoor dog bed. You’ll give your dog the same great health benefits in a package that will be able to survive the outdoors. This way, you can leave your dog outside for an hour or two without worrying about the temperature outside. Still, heated orthopedic dog beds are the superior choice for indoors, as the extra orthopedic benefits far outweigh the extra sturdiness built into exterior models. Unfortunately, heated orthopedic dog beds can cost hundreds of dollars, though chances are that you can find one for not much more than any other dog bed.

If you are still up in the air, just imagine how painful arthritis can be at times. A heated orthopedic dog bed will combat it in two different ways for a very effective relief of that pain, and your dog will be all the happier for it. Even if your dog doesn't have arthritis, a heated orthopedic dog bed can help it have more energy and get more restful sleep, and your dog will be friendlier as a result. Instead of just using medicine, try to combat the affliction itself, and the pain relief efforts will be much more effective.

Helping Your Little Child To Make Sense Of The Sudden Loss Of A Family Pet

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The death of a cat, a precious family cat, might be the initial passing episode a child undergo.  This loss experience is largely unnerving for for your youngster and should not be looked at lightly. The children’s emotions are very honest and they’re trying to grasp the crisis to the best of their ability. The kids need the encouragement of supporting grown ups to figure out what has taken place and what it means to them uniquely.

The death of a cat and the surrounding activity might be a force for improvement and compassion with the whole family.  Not just the compete family, but particularly the children have to have a time of heartbreak when a pet passes.  The parents should weigh pet loss counseling, which is a fast expanding treatment.

Verbalizing and sharing apprehensions and feelings is definitely the greatest methods to contend the incident.  That is why people gather after a memorial service to share stories and give homage to the way the deceased had a hand in their lives.

It would be a training point to partake openly regarding what is going on in our hearts, minds and bodies. Recognize that not all children or grown ups mourn in the same fashion. To that end, don’t anticipate a kid to be openly sad or to be acting uncaring in their disposition about the death of a dog.  It may take some months to figure out what this death means to them.

It does not matter how a youngster may appear to be receiving the information, keep a few hours just for them to speak and you to lend an ear.  After sharing their doubts, you’ll want to assure the kids that they are safe and sound and precious. This may be the chance to show the character that you might not share with your family. Show empathy about the loss of a pet and possibly share a composition or a quote that helped you through a troubled time.

Many of the population that encounter with unhappiness or images of suicide as mature adults undergo some sort of heartbreak they never had the chance to overcome as a youngster.

Young boys can learn the weight of accountability at a young age by acting as an owner for a pet, but can see the reason the pet was killed by a bus was on account of they weren’t responsible adequately.  As a loving grown up, you’ll want to indulge youngsters to see the sadness and then help them to identify that accidents happen and there is no reason to experience disgrace or accountability.

It is also important that a young child see that the life time of a cat is defitely shorter than a child and so they aren’t envisioned to be around forever. When the aquarium fish expires in a two months we accept the elation we spent together, even as we throw the fish into the bowl. Children need to be shown that all that lives is precious, but many if not allmost will be shorter than most others.

Dogs could also assist children to make sense of medical disease as they aid in the care of a sick and helpless pet. This is a perfect chance to teach love.

Chicken Coop Designs – Chicken Coop Designs for Urban Dwellers

Monday, October 5th, 2009

If you live in the suburbs and want to raise your own backyard chickens, there are a few easy ways that you can build attractive chicken coop designs that won’t upset the neighbors. Of course, many suburbs have ordinances against farm animals, so you will want to check this fact out, first.

There are some great chicken coop designs for backyard, small urban dwellers. A child’s playhouse when converted as a chicken coop would be one of the cutest chicken coop there is. Other clever chicken coop designs use recycling, such as an old bunk bed frame to be enclosed with a plywood roof and the elevated floor is supported by the bottom bed slats. Coming up with chicken coop designs is easier for some than others, but you can find some great ideas, kits and plans on the Internet.

One of the easily adapted chicken coop design is a large chicldren’s playhouse. Most of them are large enough to house up to 4 chickens. They already have a roof and windows with door, they mainly just need to have water and feeding stations added and if it is a full sized children’s playhouse, you can move old stuffed chairs in for nesting boxes. From the outside it looks like a playhouse, but the inside is an egg-laying operation.

The chicken coop designs that use garden sheds are best for this purpose, too. You can easily adapt a garden shed or outbuilding into a chicken coop. Some urban dwellers have built onto their home, multi-story “boxes” that look like outside stacking storage boxes with mesh wire fronts. These kind of chicken coop houses are easily disguised to the eyes of a not so expert people. Some of them feature a top level penthouse, that resembles a glassed in porch to provide warmth from the sunlight, yet allows you to open the windows to let heat out and ventilate the chicken coop.

Urban dwellers just need to use a little imagination, when it comes to chicken coop designs that blend with the exterior of their homes. You can easily build your own chicken coops with your own chicken coop designs that use some of the household goods and building materials you already have.

One creative urban dweller built a patio chicken coop using a brick retaining wall for the back side, an older kitchen countertop for the roof, enclosed the two sides with plywood and used mesh front cabinet doors for the front and left over shelving for roosting perches. It doubled as a supply table when he was using the outside grill, and it easily hosed out with the concrete floor.

Backyard chicken farmers can be urban dwellers and still raise their own fresh eggs with some creative chicken coop designs and a little ingenuity. One creative recycler hauled off front loading washers for free and lined them across his back fence, replaced the washer doors with mesh doors and turned them into individual chicken apartments that were housed in a gazebo-style chicken yard, hidden with flowering vines. It was a creative way to recycle, save and protect his chicken with his chicken coop designs. Chicken coop designs for urban dwellers are on the Internet, but you can come up with ingenious chicken coop designs using things you already have, in some cases.

dental care

In this day and age, beauty really does matter and beauty often denotes health. The same thoughts can be applied to the gums. If you want beautiful gums, then they will obviously need to be healthy. How do you know if your gums are healthy? Well, really, that does not require a scientist – You should confirm with your dentist but here are the basics: You can determine this by examining them yourself. When you look at your gums in the mirror, do they look pink and not inflamed? Are your teeth clean and visually healthy? Do you make sure you get the plaque off of them every day? If so, then chances are, you have healthy gums. Here are some signs of unhealthy gums to watch out for.

Catching gum disease at an early stage is a great idea. At an early stage of gum disease, you will have tender, red and swollen gums. When you brush them with a toothbrush or floss them, they will bleed easily. You see, healthy gums never bleed when you regularly floss and brush them. At this stage, a Hydro Floss might be helpful to you.

Generally speaking, gingivitis is not painful, so you may not notice any symptoms are present, which means you will not often catch it early for treatment. If you do not get this disease treated, then it is only going to progress forward. With gum disease often comes bad breath, try aktiv k-12  to defeat that.

When you have advanced gum disease, you may have bad breath no matter what you do. You could even end up losing your teeth. You may also have gums pulling away or receding from your teeth. Appropriate dental care is always important.

Scott Wells recommends the book: What You Should Know about Gum Disease for those seeking more information on this topic. ISBN: 978-0981485508

Hire Cars Need to be Valeted

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Since when did car hire firms allow animals to be carried in their vehicles? I’ve just returned a hire car that was full of dog hair and smelled more like a kennel.

Don’t misunderstand me. I really love animals but I don’t like having their fur all over my business suits. My family has a number of pets including a cat, dog, several fish and even a wild hedgehog that loves cat food. My family and I love animals. But when I tried to book a hire car for my family, dog and cat I was told that only certain vehicles were suitable and these weren’t available.

On further investigation I ultimately found a car hire firm that did accept pets but only in certain vehicles (estates) and the animals had to be secured behind the back seat. We were happy with this situation and understood completely.

You can probably understand how dissappointed I was by the hire car supplied by a well known car hire supplier at Heathrow. My workmates and I had booked our hire car in advance before departing from Frankfurt on an evening flight back to Heathrow. We went to the desk before collecting the car from the parking lot. When we opened the door of the car we were greeted by a warm and unpleasant doggy smell. Not nice.

We were about to go back to the desk but one of our party was impatient to get home so we hopped into the stinky car and off we went. It was when I got home that I reallised my suit was coated with fine white dog hairs.

Whoever had used that car immediately prior to us had clearly allowed a dog to roam freely on the seats and upholstery. When I contacted the car hire firm they assured me that they didn’t allow dogs in their regular saloon cars and only by prior arrangement in other cars specially adapted for animals. Someone had clearly broken their rules and they hadn’t managed to get the car valeted before we took it away. The result was a bill for having four suits cleaned.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

In future we’ll be driving to the airport and using airport parking services rather than rely on smelly hire cars. Top tip: Always make certain that you have adequate travel insurance before you go anywhere.
