Simple Steps To Follow In Building A Rabbit Hutch

3 Easy, No Non-sense Steps of Building a Rabbit Hutch

If you are planning to get any kind of pet, you need to be able to take care of them really well. Rabbits are one of the sweetest and most gentle animals that you can ever have. Although they do not require a lot of attention when it comes to training, there is still a need to watch over what they eat.

One of the best ways of giving attention to your cute bunnies is by keeping them in a suitable environment. Nowadays, rabbit hutches are for sale just about anywhere but making one for your beloved pets is way much cheaper. This will allow you to have your rabbit hutch exactly the way you want it.

Here are a few simple steps of creating a rabbit hutch for your furry friend

As always, planning is where everything should start. Creating a simple blueprint or maybe just a sketch of your ideal rabbit hutch can save you a great amount of time and money. Take into account the place that you are building your pet’s house. Measure the dimensions of the place. Draw the design that you have in mind.

Purchase all the necessary materials according to the diagram that you made. Buying things that are too big or going back to the hardware shop several times is such a waste of time and money therefor knowing everything that you need to buy is very convenient and practical.

Building the foundation

The most basic design for a rabbit house is quite easy to do. The first thing you need to make is the support frame of the hutch. Carpenters usually use 2×2 wood studs in making the framework for creations such as this. Nail all the wood studs together to create a skeleton, after which, cut the plywood accordingly.

Again, even your plywood should have the right size. Saw it according to the dimensions of your frame. You should saw the wood in a straight line so be extra careful with this step. You need to have five pieces of plywood cuts to be placed on the back, two with the same measurement for the sides, one for the top and of course, another one for the bottom. Nail these plywood pieces accordingly.

Make sure there is breathing space

You should buy the wire appropriate for rabbit housing and cages. You can find these in pet shops and hardware stores. Staple these wires into the frame made of wood. Remember that the front portion does not have plywood on it. This is where the wire should be placed.

Make sure that you have a door installed. You can have it facing you or place it on the roof of the hutch. Just make it a point to install it in such a way that it will be convenient for you to feed or take your bunny out.

As long as you have a plan that you can refer to, rabbit hutches are quite simple to make. You may also have some accessories added into your pet’s new home.
