Ferrets are amazing creatures. They are fun loving and a lot of laughs rolled into one furry package. Because they are extremely active close attention must be paid to their ferrets’ cages. They need a comfortable roomy living space that allows them to sleep and play. A bored ferret is a very dangerous thing. They can get extremely destructive when they are bored.
One of the first things about ferret care is that they require six to eight hours of one on one attention per day. They cannot absolutely cannot be left in a cage all of the time. They will not be happy and quite possibly become ill. They love to play with their humans and enjoy going with you places. Keeping a ferret in a cage all day is cruel and inhumane. If you do not have the time to devote to them then you will need to find another ferret companion for them.

Consider something bigger if they are going to spend a lot of time in their cage. Bigger is better when it comes to ferret cages. They always need room as they are extremely active critters.
You will also need hammocks for them, ferret safe bedding, tubes or tunnels, water and food bowls, a cozy sleeping area and toys. Ferrets are natural tunnel runners, they love to dig, burrow, and generally make a mess. They have to have areas to do this inside the cage if they are going to spend a lot of time there.
If you get a two story cage and it has interior tunnels make sure that the ferret has something to catch them like a hammock. You do not want your ferret free falling from the top of the cage to the bottom. That could get your ferret hurt. The cage should have food bowl, a water bowl, and a sleeping area. Having a litter box inside the cage is optional. Most ferrets will only go in one or two places inside the cage. They almost never soil their water, food, or sleeping area.
No matter the size from the cage that you simply purchase make certain that it fits your ferret. Ferret cages can’t be aquariums or points like that.
